Now that the chapter of Mom has closed, I'm anxious to see what happens next in my book of life. Feel free to come along as I start my new journey.

I was thinking about Mom and missing her on my little walk to the mailbox this afternoon. And then you'll never guess what happened! In the mail was an envelope inside another envelope, and it wasn't a wedding invitation. The inside envelope was addressed to me at my address on Eden Isle in Heber Springs (10 years ago) and the outer one was addressed to me on Vinegar Hill, which was subsequently forwarded. It was a note written by one of Mom and Dad's neighbors who moved to Little Rock very shortly after I moved up to Arkansas. The note was written on Sep. 6, 2013, three days after Mom died and included her obituary. She said that Mom was a lovely lady and wanted me to know how much she'd appreciated Mom and Dad as neighbors, as well as members of the Friendly Sunday School class. How sweet! I felt it was a little gift from God just when I needed it.

I have always maintained that if you were doing what pleases God, He will send you "thank-you" notes. You just got one. God bless.
