Now that the chapter of Mom has closed, I'm anxious to see what happens next in my book of life. Feel free to come along as I start my new journey.

Sadly, today was the first day since I moved back that I walked out the door at 6:30 AM to a wall of heat and humidity. I suppose I should be grateful because everyone keeps saying what a mild summer we're having. But I didn't walk every day when I lived here before and now I know why (okay, the weather probably wasn't really why, but it's a good excuse in hindsight). This morning Glory kept stopping and looking back towards home and that spoke volumes. But we persevered. If this continues, I just may have to take the dogs on shorter walks and join one of the daily exercise classes at the clubhouse. I probably should do both anyway, since I'm elderly, but am postponing it as long as I keep my weight in check. I met Allison for brunch today and as much eating out as I'm doing, it probably won't be long before the scales are no longer my friend.

Stop using the word "elderly" instead use "mzee" which is Swahili for respected, admired, and beloved older one. Then, if people ask you about Mzee Penny, you can tell them that here you are respected. I call you mzee, so you can, too.
