I had to go back to the doctor today about my ankle because it got better while I was on the anti-inflammatory, but the pain started again when the pills ran out. So today I got a cortisone injection which helped immediately. I told the doctor before he gave me the shot that I was very afraid because I got one in my shoulder when I was in my twenties and passed out from the pain. After it was done he asked how it went and I was happy to report that it was so much better than before (could have had something to do with the size of the needle... shoulder needle is much larger than ankle needle). To which the clown replied, "Sometimes I get lucky." I actually liked him better after that.

Afterwards I went on to try another exercise class at the Y and liked it much more than the class yesterday. The doctor and the Y trainer both explained that water exercise will be the best for me. Still fighting it, but depending on how long the cortisone lasts, that will be the next move. For now I'm happy, but am way more sympathetic to people with chronic pain than I was before. I'm a wimp!
