Saturday is the only day of the week when I have nothing scheduled on a regular basis and I love it! It's such a contrast to when I was working and Saturday was usually my busiest day... grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning, and all of the things that there was never time for during the week. But don't get me wrong. I wouldn't want two or three Saturdays in a week because that would lead to boredom. But to have one day when I can read or catch up on TV recordings all day long is delightful.
Today I had to return a book at the library, so took the dogs (they love to ride in the car), went in and checked out a few more books so I could spend the afternoon reading. Sometimes I feel so sorry for people who work, but always have to tell myself that hard work is the key to successful retirement. And even though I retired almost five years ago, this is the first year I've learned what it's really like. Of course, I have no complaints about taking care of Mom, and am grateful that I was able to be with her in her last years. But life is so good now, I can hardly stand it. I'm so blessed and so grateful.
