Remember how I said that my previous tutees would gradually come crawling back? Well, I met with the first one today. She's in Algebra and is facing an end-of-course exam as well as the state standardized test for all 8th graders since most of them don't take algebra in 8th grade. I've been railing against this for years... too much testing for one small group of students who are already advanced in math. Very unfair! But aside from that, I'm glad I have more work again and she's such an easy kid to teach that it's really an easy 40 bucks an hour.

And I met with Cali, the 2nd grader this morning. She watches all the Housewives TV shows plus Dance Moms and when I expressed concern, she stated very matter of factly that she watches them with her mother. Hard for me to comment, but when I added I hope she realizes that those shows depict bad behavior, she said she knows because she was taught better (really?) and she thinks it's funny. A little scary.
