Now that the chapter of Mom has closed, I'm anxious to see what happens next in my book of life. Feel free to come along as I start my new journey.

Our new group of girls is middle school age and now I feel more at home. The funny thing about these girls is that they're much more open and willing to share than their older counterparts. They're going to present a fashion-type style show on Friday, wearing t-shirts they designed, and giving a brief talk about themselves. Today they wrote their mini-biographies and one girl's about broke our hearts. She was born in Mexico and said she was poor and sold tamales. Then she got pregnant at 13 and was forced to marry the father. She then came to Texas with five of her 11 siblings and her husband and baby. Not sure why, but shortly thereafter she was adopted by an African American family, but never felt comfortable. And then, I'm assuming she ran away and ended up at Krause House. Her goals are to go to college to become a mechanical engineer so she can become a better person and mother. I seriously doubt her aspirations will come true, but pray that it will. Regardless, I do believe the baby will be her incentive. She ended with, "He's the best thing that ever happened to me." That gives her (and me) hope.
