We survived the carpet installation and it was worth every miserable moment. The carpet I had was 13 years old, scratchy, and the cheapest grade available with a pad as thin as five pieces of paper. Plus it was a solid light cream color and needed desperately to be stretched. Due to the very light color, it had many stains, mainly attributed to puking dogs (rarely, but I'm never able to clean it perfectly).

But the new carpet is a dream come true. It's very soft and a blend of creams and browns so that I'm pretty sure that dog puke stains will be barely negligible, if at all. Now comes the task of putting everything back together, but that can wait till tomorrow. For now I'm going to roll around on the floor.
