Funny story at yoga this morning. Our teacher is on vacation for 6 weeks and we're going to have a sub starting next week, but today used a CD. I was pretty nervous since I wouldn't have a teacher to follow, but got in the very back so I could watch the others. At one point we were lying down and the instruction was to roll onto your right side (which meant I was facing away from the room) and bring your knee up, which I did. Then I didn't understand what was said and after trying to figure it out in my mind, decided to roll over to see what everyone else was doing. They were all sitting up cross-legged with their arms in the air! How the hell did that happen??? What did I miss? Sadly, the ones just in front of me were aware I'd been lying while they were sitting. After it was all over, I didn't say a thing, just slithered out.
On a brighter note... I had lunch with probably the only person I would describe as a "colleague" (because that's just not a word in my vocabulary). She was the head of the math department at Lanier, where I taught in Houston. Since I left, she's gotten her PhD and is now teaching at the University of Houston. She is so enthusiastic about teaching math and even asked if I'd be interested in mentoring a few students before they begin their student teaching. I said that I would, although it would depend on the location. She's from South Africa and is leaving this weekend to go back before school starts, but we will probably meet for lunch again when she returns for further discussion. Interesting proposal, but I don't want to drive far, so we'll see...
