I had my two-month checkup at the retina doctor this morning and am happy to report that all is well. I had to wait for quite a while in the exam room and when the doctor came in, she apologized and said that a detached retina had come in, which I know to be an emergency. Since I had nowhere else to be, I wasn't concerned. Then as I was checking out, there was a youngish (40's) man leaving and when the girl behind the desk called to him, "Mr. Wiggins?" I immediately interceded with, "I'm Wiggins." But so was he! All he said to me was, "Small world," as I was ready to launch into my genealogy. Oh well, I doubt we're related.
And then there was the matter of the dilation. Holy moly, I think I got the super-duper dilating drops! My eyes were so sensitive to light that even with my wraparound dark glasses, I had to squint to see and my eyes were watering. If I'd been in Little Rock, I'd have had to camp out in a restaurant somewhere. When I got home I closed all the blinds and spent the next four hours exploring blind boredom. Couldn't read, use the iPad or computer, or even watch TV very easily. There was one computer game I could play, but got bored with that pretty quickly. And of course I wasn't one bit sleepy. The hardest thing was staying out of the kitchen because when all else fails... eat!
