I was invited to join the Singles Mingles committee to help plan monthly activities and we had our first meeting today at lunch. What have I done? There were only two women on the committee when they asked me to join about a month ago and now there are seven. Fortunately there were only five for lunch and one of the three bossy ladies was in absentia. I shudder to think what will happen when both are present. Once I learned how many people were involved, I tried to excuse myself, but the woman I like the most (who isn't bossy) stated emphatically that once you're on, you have to die to be removed.

Actually, all I have to do is agree or disagree with whatever is being proposed, but it got pretty heated (and a little embarrassing) at lunch. And to make matters worse, they're cheap! The restaurant was the type where you place your order at the counter, but someone brings your food and then cleans up after you. I pointedly put $1 on the table before we left, but no one followed suit. So as we were leaving, I picked up the dollar and put down a five. Maybe if I say something to them next time, they won't mind it when I ask to get off the committee. Women!
