Now that the chapter of Mom has closed, I'm anxious to see what happens next in my book of life. Feel free to come along as I start my new journey.

And the hits just keep on coming! This morning I went to an interview to be a mentor at a nearby residential treatment facility for teenage girls. I saw quite a few of these places when I volunteered with CASA so know what I'm getting into. They only accept acute cases, so that might be a little more challenging but I know I can handle it. Visitation will be an hour a week and most of the girls are there for three to six months. I think this is a perfect opportunity for me because I shouldn't get too attached in that time frame and know that it should be beneficial for the girl. And now we wait for the background check and fingerprinting. I have a feeling that these people will be much faster than the Harris County Juvenile Justice Department.
