Note to self: If you're going to fly at Thanksgiving, Tuesday through Saturday is definitely the way to go. I was amazed at how empty the airports were on both days and will definitely do it this way again. Especially since we decided that all future Thanksgivings will be at Rob's and even 4th of July, too. Since we couldn't take advantage of the pool at this time of year, we figured Independence Day would be the most appropriate time because that's when we all used to meet in Heber Springs when Dad was alive. Actually Rob reminded me more of Dad this trip than ever before because he was such a good host, as Dad always was. I don't miss Dad as much when I'm with Joe and Rob because we talk and laugh about him the whole time. And we include Charles in all our memories, so he's with us in spirit as well.
The dogs weren't as happy to see me as I expected, but the feeling was a little bit mutual. I think we all enjoyed our vacation. They stayed with the family that has four young children and the mom told me Glory stayed outside with the kids almost the whole entire time. But I also think we're all happy to be home. All in all... a perfect Thanksgiving with my family and I'm thankful for that as well as all my other many blessings.
