After I pulled out to go to Costco and Target this morning, the garage door mysteriously wouldn't go down. I tried both remotes to no avail and then pushed the button on the wall... nada. So I locked the door going into the house, assured that my across-the-street neighbor would be on guard. His office is in the front of his house and apparently he stays there all day because he doesn't miss a trick. And I actually think that's a good thing.

When I got back I emailed all my wine friends for a garage door repairman recommendation. Within minutes, I had one on the phone who said he could come at 2. Then I raced off to the dentist and was back with time to spare. He came, he worked, and he fixed it. Hallelujah! I really didn't want to sleep with my door up all night.

After that I took a stroll to the clubhouse for book club. Our book this month was Unbroken, the story of Louie Zamperini, an Olympic runner who was a POW in Japan after spending a month on a raft in the Pacific with no food or water. A great book, but hard to read because of the abuse he suffered at the hands of the Japanese. They were mean!!!

And then a late afternoon walk with the pups, enjoying another day of glorious of weather. Blizzard of 2015? Not in Houston!
