What a great day for me and my kids. Thomas, the 11-year-old that I mentor, gave me this today as a gift. He was so proud because he made it on the computer and I was so touched. I'm pretty sure his teacher put him up to it, but I love it regardless (minus the Mrs. part but that's a common mistake). We played cards, laughed, and had fun this afternoon.
Then Bella came this evening for tutoring and we joked and laughed all through the session. It really seemed to be a kind of breakthrough and I couldn't be happier. And this is exactly why I do what I do... it's so rewarding and I only hope the kids are getting a fraction of what they give to me.
Karen is also hooked on MadMen but I can't handle how they treat the women and each other. There's not a man on that show that I can like, maybe that's the appeal to Karen. She and John have seen them all, so far. I like Jon Hamm but he acts like such a jerk sometimes, often. My new favorites show is Backstrom with a really messed up hero/cop. Guess I identify more with him. Sorry about you ankle--John's is also really messed up and he has to wear a brace every day. If you know of a good one that we can buy on Amazon.com, we'd love the recommendation. Keep up the good work--you are really helping those kids.
