After a visit to the chiropractor this morning I decided to stop in a flooring store because I'm considering new carpet. My house has the original carpet from 2003 which was the builder grade with a lousy pad. It's very light in color and doesn't work well for dogs who occasionally lose their lunch (so to speak). Anyway, I'm pretty sure it was 5 to 10 minutes later that I walked out, having picked the first sample shown, with an appointment at 1:00 today for measuring. I'm still not quite sure how it happened, but decided it wouldn't hurt to get the measurements done.

Well, when the guy hadn't shown up by 1:45, I called the store with plans to reschedule and then maybe even cancel. The salesman told me he'd been very busy, but would be here in 10 minutes. Thirty minutes later he arrived, apologizing profusely for his tardiness. At that point I was pretty much done, until he presented me with the estimate. I'd told him in the store that I wanted the best upgraded pad and when he showed me the estimate, he said he was throwing in the pad for free because he was late. I was very skeptical, so asked, "The best upgrade?" and he said yes. So, the carpet was on sale, the estimate was $1500 less than I expected from an earlier estimate I'd received months ago, and I'm getting new carpet in two weeks. Yay!!!
