O HAPPY DAY!!! I started physical therapy this morning and left with more hope than I've had since July 4th. I really liked my guy, Brian, and am amazed at what he came up with (along with whoever was inside his laptop). He believes that I have a herniated disc at the base of my spine from the initial impact of my bottom hitting the concrete. I questioned this because of the pain switching sides, but he said it was possible. Then he had me do 10 press-ups... lying on my stomach with my hands under my shoulders and then pushing up completely until my back is arched. Immediately after I did it, the pain eased up for a few moments. He had me do it two more times before I left and it was a little better each time, although it still didn't last long.
So my homework is to do 10 press-ups every two hours from the time I get up until I go to bed. He expected me to whine about it, but I told him I'd do them every hour if it would work faster. Not a good idea, he said. So I've done three sets since I've been home and think it's helping. I'm still a little skeptical because it seems too simple, but I'll let you know tomorrow how it's going. For now, I'm very happy!
