I met with my little first grade guy today for the first time. After less than 30 minutes, I'm pretty sure I figured out that he and his sister are in foster care. He went to school in Lafayette, LA last year and came to Katy this summer. He has a baby sister who is with his mother in Lafayette and he's looking forward to Halloween when he gets to stay with his mom and dad in a hotel. I didn't want to quiz him, but this all came out in casual conversation. I'll meet with his sister on Friday and will probably learn more. And I have to say, if I'm right, I will be a great mentor for both of them because I'm so familiar with foster kids. For their sake I hope I'm wrong, but if not... God at work?
