Now that the chapter of Mom has closed, I'm anxious to see what happens next in my book of life. Feel free to come along as I start my new journey.

I met my other elementary school mentee (I looked it up and it's a real word) today and she couldn't be sweeter. Her name is Bryanna, but she goes by Breazy. I asked the school counselor if she and her brother were foster kids, but all she said was that they're living with an aunt and uncle, but go back to Lafayette one weekend a month to see their parents. And Breazy told me they will get to spend a week at Christmas with their parents. which sounds suspiciously like foster kids to me. Many times children in the system stay with relatives, which is the best scenario for any situation because the relatives must be vetted. But actually, it matters not... they're just kids that need a little extra attention and I'm so glad I get to be the one to provide it for these two.
