I've been playing card games with all three kids that I mentor and one thing is the same with each one... they're not good losers. The 9-year-old wants me to let her cheat (and I don't), the 11-year-old is continually changing the rules to benefit him, and the 14-year-old just gets mad, although she does try to control it. With Thomas, the 11-year-old, I just turn the tables on him each time and ask how he would feel if I made that rule for myself under the same circumstances. At that point, he buys it and backs down. If nothing else, I hope to affect their gamesmanship, or the lack thereof, and make them better players. It's something they need to learn.
